"When the HoneyBee goes extinct, man has four years left to live."  --Albert Einstein

Robotic.  Disconnected - from our hearts, our Earth wisdom & our deep sense of well bee-ing, we lack touch and connection.
As a result, we seek outside of ourselves.

Our suffering is collective.  Regardless of where we find ourselves in space and time, regardless of the color of our skin, the size of our wallets and the hide of our shoes, we all know pain.  As humans we all feel, deeply.

Most of the time, however, we simply convince ourselves that this pain is normal.  That is it to be expected, even.  That a day-in-a-life lived without a smile, a warm touch, a reassuring pat on the back and with the quick convenience of industrialized food, as well as rampant commercialism gift-wrapped as communal individuality, is "reality."

Embodying Francis Moore Lappe's "Premise of Possibility,"
I offer your Expressive BodyMind tips, tools and resources for sinking deeper into this moment, now, and for remembering that your suffering is not fate, nor a necessity.  Rather, it is an option.  Wielding a  sword of metaphor and a shield of symbolism, I integrate meaning into my everyday by honoring and celebrating the multi-dimensional and multi-sensory nature of life lived on this planet Earth.  And, I invite you to join me.

Together, we can endeavor to live in a world where there is enough love, money, food, attention and reward for all of us.  Where we can actively build upon a collective consciousness in which the words  "Yes.  And?" are our guide posts.

On Our Collective Suffering

Picture
Masking with Roy, 2009. Images by Cara

After years spent crawling out of my own skin - of feeling like an animal caged within the fortress of muscle and bone - and fortifying my vulnerable heart with layers of fear and other repressed emotion; after minutes, hours and days spent lost in the rapid firings of my own mind where the images of the past were replayed, over and over again, and where contemplations for the future were tightly held on to, I broke open.

In the course of my great undoing - as I cried copious tears for weeks on end and even as I experienced both a numbing anxiety as well as a hollow depression that stole my healthy appetite - I experienced HOPE.
After years of running away, hiding, eluding, escaping, playing the victim, behaving passive aggressively, and living in the fear of rejection - of being disliked and judged, of not being enough - I was rubbed raw.  A great emptiness nearly swallowed me whole, yet, in the process, I discovered metaphor.

Sometimes, honoring the deep, dark, wretched solitude of suffering is a step in the right direction.  Sometimes, our suffering can be a breakthrough!  It can be an opportunity to: rise from the ashes of all that we once were, like the mighty Phoenix; cultivate gratitude for having finally arrived; delight in being joyfully found after a great period of being tragically lost; and right the deeds of our karmic past in this lifetime, n-o-w.

In service, I offer space and time for your healing and transformational journey back into your Highest Self.  Your life is your greatest adventure, and now is the time that you have been given to live it.

Join me in standing up and being counted.  In reclaiming our voices and using them to the benefit of the greater good for all - including this planet.  In remembering how to Sing Your Song, Dance Your Dance and Live Your Story.  Because...

                                         Love is Now.
